Season 2, Episode 10:

How the Facebook Privacy Change Impacted Sourcing & Recruiting

Three weeks ago, we spoke to sourcing and recruiting coach Corey Gibbons about his favorite sourcing tools. Today, we sat down with him for an update on one of his go-to resources, Facebook, and how the data breach changed how sourcers use the platform in the future.

Don’t panic quite yet…

After the Facebook breach, the social network permanently disabled the ability to look up phone numbers and emails using their search function. While inconvenient, this shouldn’t totally derail your sourcing efforts.

Instead, you can check out the old-fashioned (but still reliable) Whitepages or Zabasearch. The major downside to these resources is that they can’t provide any photos or personal information like Facebook could. Fortunately, they can still confirm names and, in some cases, contact information. At the end of the day, you’ve got a solid backup plan and it’s still free.
