HEALTH INSURANCE RECRUITING & EXECUTIVE SEARCH

Your members’ trust is built on the call your team didn’t think you’d remember.

Health plans, third-party administrators, and benefits administrators. Hiring discipline for operations, network, clinical, and member experience leadership.

02The pressure

Health insurance lives at the intersection of regulatory complexity and consumer experience. The wrong hire in operations leaks into MLR. The wrong hire in network leaks into provider relationships. The wrong hire in member experience shows up in CMS Star ratings 18 months later.

Hiring discipline in this industry isn’t optional. It’s a compliance, financial, and reputational lever - all at once.

Your Star rating is a hiring decision with an 18-month delay.

THE KIND OF QUESTION THE INTERVIEW ASKS

Tell me about a Star measure you moved. Where was it stuck, what did you change operationally, and what did the next rating cycle show?

SERVICE PRACTICE

We screen for the service behaviors that member trust and quality ratings actually measure - not interview performance, but how a leader holds the standard when the member escalates, the metric moves, and the regulation changes.

You have inherited a metric that was really a hiring decision.

01

In executive search since 1999

02

85% retention on placed candidates at 24 months, firm-wide

03

Retained and project engagement models

04The plan

Member trust is operational: claims, service, care management. The engine ties every leadership hire to a member-outcome definition of winning and screens for standard-holding behavior in regulated, high-volume environments.

Qualigence installs the hire. LLI installs Guide Leader around it. One system, two doors.

THE STAKES

07Common questions
How do you screen for the service behaviors that member trust and Star ratings actually measure?

Star ratings are a lagging measure of operational discipline - the hiring decision that produced them is 18 months old. We define winning in member-outcome terms for each leadership role, then screen for standard-holding behavior in regulated, high-volume service environments: not interview polish, not industry vocabulary, but how this person actually decides when the member escalates, the metric moves, and the regulation changes.

Do you place for both regional carriers and national plans?

Both - the screen adjusts to the operating environment, but the behavioral standard is similar. A regional carrier's service model depends on individual team discipline in ways a national plan can distribute across more infrastructure. We calibrate the screen to what the actual operating seat demands.

What leadership roles do you place most often in health insurance?

VP Operations, Director of Member Experience, Chief Medical Officer, VP Network Management, and compliance leadership are the most frequent. The common thread is regulatory exposure - we screen for how the candidate has handled examiner scrutiny and member escalations, not just what their org chart looked like.
