Be careful on your commute this morning.

As much as 16 inches of snow hit parts of Michigan overnight, leaving many residents unable to get to work today. Following the snow is dangerous wind and bitter cold today, according to MLive.

On the West side of the state, wind chill could get as low as -40. In several areas, snowplows have been steadily working on the roads since last night.

Many offices are closed today as a result of the snow and weather. In Lansing, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder called for the state offices to be closed today. Many businesses and office buildings in Northville, Livonia, Ann Arbor, and other areas of Metro Detroit are closed today. Most schools around Michigan are also closed today.
