Recruiting is more than pitching an opportunity

In the past, recruiters were company ambassadors. It was their job to sell the company and its culture at whatever means necessary—even if that meant doing it quickly and at the lowest cost. In other words: closing with very little value to the candidate.

But today, recruitment is no longer about closing—it’s about helping candidates make decisions. With new technology emerging by the day, candidates know more about a business solely by doing a Google search.

This means that recruiters don’t have a choice but to update their recruitment process. They have to become ambassadors for candidates; they have to be a guide; a resource to help make their next life-changing decision.

Episode 1: Target. Tour. Tilt.

The talent shortage is real, and we can’t let top candidates slip away because we don’t know how to create additional value to candidates—value they can’t find anywhere else.

So, create it. Produce value by approaching recruitment from a new lens: Target, Tour, and Tilt.

TARGET. Identify the end-goal. What steps can you take to reach your target destination without stripping away value?

TOUR. Guide candidates through an opportunity. What’s the best way to engage with candidates and uncover their needs, wants, and desires?

TILT. Take their needs, wants, and desires and create additional value. What can you do to tilt them toward making the ultimate decision?
