The team walked the zoo to benefit the Michigan Epilepsy Foundation, a non-profit agency whose mission is to raise awareness and overcome challenges for families affected by epilepsy.
During the opening ceremony, participants gave personal stories about their own experiences with epilepsy, which entails reoccuring, unprovoked seizures. The speeches included accounts from children who are currently affected by the disorder.
After the speeches and walking warm-ups, participants enjoyed a walk around the zoo at their leisure and were able to spend quality time at each exhibit.
The Qualigence team was very proud to participate in the event and exceeded its pledge goal for the cause. The team pledge was enough to provide transportation for up to 20 people with epilepsy to attend the Wellness & Epilepsy Conference in November.
The conference provides information, resources and connections to help people with epilepsy reach their full potential.
This year’s Stroll for Epilepsy raised more than $121,000 for the cause.
