Michigan has worked to significantly rebuild its economy, lower the unemployment rate, and create and staff new and existing industries following the recession. As the auto industry makes a return, many jobs have been added to the state’s economy to leverage the growth. According to the Pew Research Center, Michigan has added nearly half a million jobs since its lowest point in 2010, placing it fifth in overall employment growth in the nation and truly making it a comeback state.
