Recent college graduates are seeing a better overall job outlook following graduation, an annual survey of employers conducted by Michigan State University concludes.
The survey also found that those with MBAs and other advanced degrees are having a harder time finding a job than those with bachelor's degrees.
The Recruiting Trends report shows a 10% increase in the number of employers planning to hire college grads with a bachelor's degree.
The survey, which samples from thousands of employers across the nation, found a 1% growth in bachelor's degree hires in the Central Midwest. The area that leads the way in new grad hiring is the Mountain West, with a 5% growth in bachelor's degree hiring overall.
The lack of hiring those with MBAs is related to the still recovering financial services market, according to Phil Gardner, director of MSU’s Collegiate Employment Research Institute.
Other markets, such as accounting, marketing, computer science, engineering, human resources, and public relations are all seeing a demand for hires, the survey found.
